I sat at my computer tweeting during the last segment of RAW Monday night suffering through yet another ho-hum RAW main event when the NXT season 1 winner Wade Barrett appeared at the top of the ramp and made his way to ringside,"oh great" I thought..."well,I guess Wade is gonna start a feud with Cena and get squashed".Then Michael Tarver appeared, followed by the rest of the season 1 NXT rookies. What proceeded was carnage and destruction not seen since the early days of the NWO and I along with a ton of people sat there slack jawed.
#NXT = Invasion angle 2010 but hopefully more interesting
Best ending to RAW in a long time
Now that is how you make an impression #NXT
Maybe this will lead to an Evan Bourne/Justin Gabriel match...ooooh...that'd be good
Those were just some of the things I tweeted after I came to my senses and realized that those rookies just made the biggest impact on RAW in a long time. But where does it go from here? Are they responsible for 'Taker being out? Why did Michael Cole escape their wrath? What they can do is limitless, hell they carried the feud into Florida Championship Wrestling with Heath Slater and Bryan Danielson (I refuse to say that other name) teaming up against Christian and The Miz and at the end of the match they not only decimate the pros but the FCW ring and arena as well.My only concern is that this might turn from a potential NWO style angle into that horrid WCW/ECW invasion angle WWE tried a few years back.
And speaking of horrid angles and more accurately horrid names, that brings us to NXT season 2.Now I have no issues with the rookies, not too familiar with half of them, but from my readings of FCW reports coupled with the rookies I do know,we are looking at very talented group of workers. There are a few little things that bother me...
Percy Watson in general(c'mon man, what's up with the glasses there Sally Jesse and why does it look like he smelled one of Huskie Harris' farts?
Huskie Harris, hey I like the guy (he shows that you don't need to be a 'roid jockey to be a wrestler) but he looks like he's the little retard that got picked to play kickball because the teacher made you...and he's just happy to be there.
I hope Eli Cottonwood doesn't end up like Khali aka a joke
I wish I knew more about Lucky Cannon (kid has a good look)
Kaval getting stuck with LayCool...it just ain't right. He's getting the Bryan Danielson treatment
The names...WTF with a cherry on top.Huskie Harris...Michael MaGiggleyBooty...we know who they are, they said it on the damn show...don't kill a legacy. If Huskie Harris had never said who his kin was and I didn't know who he was then yeah I could go with the name,he's a husky boy...no problem. But I can find no good excuse for Joe Henning...especially when WWE creative told him to wrestle and act like his dad, then you go and do this...again I say WTF
Now Rookies aside, let's talk Pros.I feel that this crop of "pros" besides Mark Henry and maybe...maaaaaaaaybe MVP...should not be considered pros.Why...well I don't think any of them besides Mark Henry have been in the WWE for more than 5 years and if they have it ain't by much.LayCool,Ryder,Cody,Kofi,Morrison and The Miz are not qualified(although I do think Miz and Alex Riley fit perfectly) MVP may not have been in WWE for long but I do feel he has alot to teach and I could possibley throw Morrison in that category as well.Henry has been with the WWE for awhile and yes he's been injured more times than I can remember but he's been in the locker room and sat under the knowledge tree of some of the greats
I do like how the Pros did the whole beat some respect into the season 2 guys to show them that what the season 1 kids did will not be accepted.NXT looked to be tanking but my interest has been renewed thanks to the season 2 guys and what season 1 did on RAW.
My early pick for winning will be Alex Riley, although I'd love to see Kaval get it.First eliminated will either be Sally Jesse Percy Watson or no impression making Titus O'Neil (unless he steps it up)
So to recap:
Rookies are good (minus a few minor things)
I hate destroying 2nd and 3rd generation names
The attack on RAW may have saved NXT
Some Pros shouldn't be considered pros
WWE,don't screw up this angle...it's what could get these young guys over...BIG TIME!!!
